2004 Yamaha 150hp 2 stroke?

Recommended Posts

Porkchop21

Hey guys

does anyone have any experience with a large Yamaha 2 stroke? Looking at a boat but it has a 2004 Yamaha 150hp 2 stroke on the back. Any opinions would be great. Not sure if it's something I should stay away from, I would be using the motor for trolling for salmon unless I can get a 15hp 4 stroke kicker for that. Thanks!

is it an hpdi? or just a carb?

It's a carb I believe. What's the difference?

I've got the same motor but a 4 stroke... need any work or advice feel free to ask.. I've had mine apart more in the last month ( stupid issues from previous owner) but it runs really well and the engine is solid!  Can't speak for the 2 stroke but I've heard nothing but good stuff on the 4's  do a google search you'd be surprised what it will tell you.

Thanks Fishbum. I am also looking at another boat with a 115hp 4 stroke. Is 400-500 hours considered lots of hours on an outboard?

hpdi. is high pressure direct injected. it is the lastest generation of 2 strokes. beyond just EFI. similar to optimax or etec technology. cleaner more efficient than a carb or EFI.

4-500 hours is nothing for a 4 stroke. even a 2 stroke have lots of life left after that.
