Not worth it unless you want to sit in a ice bath for 2 hours to get a dozen smelts, if so have at it. Going to need more rain to warm things up.

Was at current river last night didn’t do to well only got about a dozen only stayed for 45 minutes tho I’ll probably go out before the weekend again

Yep there's a season. The season for dip netting smelts ends May 31!!

Just got back 10 minutes ago, was out for an hour and a half but barely got any. 
Very slow, I got about 1-4 per scoop on average. Sometimes none. Down p.a. Tried a couple of rivers.

Went solo tonight and got the two 3 gallon pails I wanted filled..

 

Took almost 3 hours though.  From 10:30 to about 1:30.  

 

 


Since we can not call female anglers "fisherman" We should just call 'em hookers.....

My experience was much like JohnZ's last night at current river. We filled our bucket in 40 minutes, probably 50lbs of smelts. I never had a scoop without at least 2 or 3 smelt in it... the better scoops had 2 or 3 dozen.

Went last night, never seen smelts so thick  standing in 6” of water filled a 5 gallon in 15 seconds, stayed for 5 mins throwing back half a net at a time.
