Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming - WOW - what a ride!!!

Neebs has open water at the usual gathering spot. About 6 to 8 inches of water if that. The other side of the Edward St bridge downstream is still ice covered. The Mac has water running on top of the ice.

The bay is still frozen over. Ice on the floodway up to the mouth of the Neebs is frozen solid. Neebs is still frozen over in most places with the exception of the gathering spot. A few places have some running water on top of the ice. Same as the Mac. Be awhile yet most likely before any fish move in. Still too cold. Not much change at McVicars or Current River today.

Mac by the Central pool and upstream towards the University is opening up and looks fishable. Still lots of snow and ice along the rivers edge. Maybe a good time for those new to steelhead fishing to check out rapids, holding areas, pools etc before the water gets too deep. A general familiarization if you like.

McVicars just north of 11-17 is flowing nicely. Wont be long. The city must be pleased at how the spring melt is going. Slow and easy. Might keep the rivers levels low though.

Lol Youve got the itch bad don’t you? I get it. Best course of action bigbrookie is just head out and fish. May be nothing running, may be a fish around. Worst case scenario is you spent the day fishing. Im always out early mostly just to make sure everything is still in order and get the kinks out (casting flies, etc). But I almost always catch a lucky first fish. You never truly get the answers you want unless you get out there and get a line wet. If you see me out there (you will but not at the Neebing 😒), feel free to pick my brain im always willing to help out or just chat with other fishermen.

Tight Lines

Didn't get to do to much ice fishing so i'm itching real bad, maybe it would be worth a shot, get to try out some flys

Slowly opening up. Freezing overnight temps not helping with the melt.

Here are some pics of the melt from previous years so you can compare them to what has been posted this year. Looks like we are ahead of the game melt wise.

Current River is still not open at the docks but very soon. McIntyre is flowing good with 4 people fishing the Central Pool. Neebing is high after the rain. Didn't see anyone fishing there. McVicars is flowing good. Saw a few guys fishing yesterday.
