Porter Ross 6 Report post Posted August 22, 2019 Heading up the shore next week and camping with my daughter at Rainbow Falls near Schreiber. Hoping to do some trolling on Lake Superior - can anyone share what type of depths salmon might be in right now or what water temperature you look for when targeting salmon? If Superior is too windy, does anyone know if fishing is decent in Whitesand Lake or Walker or Lynn Lakes? Do they even have boat landings? Fish Ontario On-Line doesn't even have fish info or landing info on those lakes.
Bobber Down 921 Report post Posted August 22, 2019 A boat launch is located at the east beach area of the Whitesand Lake Campground. Not sure how the fishing is though. BP76 11 Report post Posted August 22, 2019 Lynn Lake is stocked with Brookies. No boat launch that I’m aware of. Walker Lake is supposed to have Lake trout, again, not aware of a boat launch. White sand lake, not sure what’s in it, but there’s a boat launch in the park.
Porter Ross 6 Report post Posted August 23, 2019 Thanks - Us yanks get used to concrete ramps with docks at every lake...and the majority of those lakes have poor fishing and pesky jet skis
oyo 127 Report post Posted August 23, 2019 If you have a big enough boat go on Lake Superior

Porter Ross 6 Report post Posted August 24, 2019 I am planning to fish Lake Superior out of Rossport, just looking for options if it is too windy on the big lake.
oyo 127 Report post Posted August 24, 2019 Nishen lake has a nice launch a bit shallow if you have a bigger boat but it’s nice and deep in the middle, lots of bass.
Porter Ross 6 Report post Posted September 3, 2019 Well it was a rainy and windy on the far north shore of Lake Superior. Wednesday afternoon was pretty windy and rain started after setting up camp, so no fishing. Thursday was pretty much a wash out with the rain, but after chatting with a retired guy camped near us, he ended up driving us around in the rain, show us some unmarked boat landings and shore fishing spots. So that was good. Friday we made it out of the Rossport Landing, but winds kept us fishing in a small area between islands. Caught 8 lake trout, mostly small. Saturday morning was of course sunny and calm, but we had to head home.
