Im all for eating the chrome but this time of year i just cant do it. I find them to taste really really bad. Even at the tail end ice they are rough. Are most people smoking them this time of year? Or do I have a fussy palate. Regardless, nice looking fish!

Silver fish have great meat. The darker ones have more pale meat versus bright orange. Darker fish go to the in laws. Silvers stay with me lol.

Sometimes beggars can't be choosers. Not all of us are lucky enough to get prime silver fish. My " black boot" tasted amazing. To each there own. Must be nice to harvest dimes like you. 👍

I catch many, harvest few. Don’t really care for them as far as table fare goes

Thought this creek is all private property? Written permission access only. My chum caught some fines at blind.

Yeah Land use atlas shows it’s all private property either side of highway.

Apparently one of his buddies family owns land there. They been there all week long so I guess its not a problem.

Tried to post a pic of the meat. Nice and orange for a darker fish. Was good table fare. Certainly not as tasty as a steelhead caught right outta superior trolling but did the trick until I get out in the boat.

Rookie mistake by me here. Left my fishing glove at the Mac. Not likely getting it back but does anyone recognize this and can recommend where I can get another. It's a great glove for holding steelies, when dry it's mostly green. Checked D&R and Crappy Tire. Cheers!

Do those ones have the little rubber bumps on the palm and fingertips?

No, no rubber at all. A soft woven cotton type feeling.

OK, then they are the ones from Lakefish Net & Twine in Winnipeg, commonly known as commercial fishermans gloves.

Looks like the same sort of glove I have ... given to me by one of the steelhead association members a few years back. Perhaps find and ask one of them if they know where you can get a new glove.

Edit: Never mind, I see your question has been answered.

What are you using this time of year for steelhead?

Beads, roe, yarn, stoneflies, nymphs?

My wife and son really want to see some steelhead jumping.

Anyone see them jumping lately?

Best time of day and spot to see them in action?

I'd recommend the McVicar. Park on/near McVicar St just south of court Street. Below the bridge is a nice set of falls, there's been alot of photos captured so anytime now and anytime of the day really. Good luck!
