Steel River

Looking for any tips I can get on catching something out of the Steel River near Terrace Bay. Up here for work and have heard about the salmon run its supposedly receives. Checked it out today and found a trail that lead to some pools, didnt do much fishing though. 
Best time of year? Lure recommendations

Depends on flows, water temps.  Brighter spinners (Vibrax/ Mepps) are good starters if fishing with conventional gear.  September through November is the timeline.
