What does everybody use for them bush chickens. Shotgun or rimfire?

myself I use a 12ga #5-6 shot and I’m good out to atleast 40 yards.

I used to use a .22, but lately I’ve been grabbing the 12 shooting #6’s. definitely don’t worry about them getting away. Put the bead above their head and no wasted meat.

I use both. A .410 when the bush is thick, a .22 w/scope when the leaves are down.

Over 50 years of using a 4:10, 3 inch shells #4 or 5. Great in all conditions, you can't go wrong with a 4:10 for grouse.

My grandfathers .410 will always be my favourite.  I like #6 or #7.5.

My oldest  daughter has now used the same gun so it’s been harvesting dinners for 4 generations.E969A08B-02A8-4D37-80FC-A427095B5C15.thumb.jpeg.e9e550087e5da5cc9dc44aaebb61f19e.jpeg73A714ED-A9BC-4B26-9B00-91C624F5FA98.thumb.jpeg.3ea1a6051528079d9d8fb0a9a0cc2dce.jpeg

Nice 410, I recently sold my bolt action 410 and I’m seriously regretting doing that… was one of my favourite guns.

Looks like a Mossberg 410.

You got ‘er !

With the select-o-choke, and the internal magazine to hold 3 shells.

Great little gun.

no. i just use # 2 or #4 if i have to.

30-40 yard shots

thick or thin brush dont matter

pop em on the fly or run without seeing feathers fly and bird gone.

Best way i used to explain it to everyone is we stand at 5 yards apart. Ill hold a handfull of rocks  and you hold a handfull of pebbles. Ill let you throw yer pebbles at me first. Then Ill theow my rocks and see who feels what!

lol.

12 gauge pump, 14" barrel, modified choke, #4 shot with high brass because it goes through them and does not get left in the meat.

Old cooey single shot 20ga with #6 shot. Been using this for 30 Years and prefer it over my newer 12 ga pump.

12 Gauge with #8 works pretty good. I have just purchased a .410. Kind of nice not being on the business end for a change. Use #6 . very impressed with the accuracy through the brush.
