April 19, last year they were spawned out by 27th

I catch fish on both sides of the May long weekend. I like post 'May Long' because the fishing pressure is less. I booked the first week of May off work to focus on Steelhead. We shall see I guess.

Looking forward to steelhead season. And in my experience, you're right. Steelhead run in the Neebing first ... I assume it's because the river warms faster than the rest.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming - WOW - what a ride!!!

The latest I have caught them is first or second week of June. Was actually after specks and ran into some drop back fish.

I ended up moving my time off a week earlier ... looking at photos from previous years, the last week of April has been good for me.

Let's talk productive spots and secret creeks/rivers and really get the 'discussion' going. ;)

If you're not concentrating on the hole by Cumberland you needn't get there quite that early. It's not the MacIntyre yet. ;)

Edit: 2am - so you're around the people netting steelhead.

I love the McVicar run ... I mean that literally, I love having to chase fish down the creek (any smaller river or creek). That'll probably change the first time I take a big spill.
