James01 223 Report post Posted April 4, 2022 (edited) Was on Posh Saturday... lots of ice. Did not encounter any slush. We limited out on walleye - fried them up last night. Fresh walleye 😁. Edit: The ice wasn't the best. I think it'll go quick once it starts. James01 223 Report post Posted April 10, 2022 I was out yesterday … beautiful day. Snag???, my fishing photos from yesterday show a lot more slush. The ice wasn't the greatest (worse than last week) - there was lots of it, but it is breaking down. Some of our holes from last weekend were still open. James01 223 Report post Posted April 11, 2022 Similar to your experience Snag???, the walleye we kept were on the smaller side/nice eating size. The hatch you mentioned is interesting, might be worth trying something plastic that resembles the larva. Thought Saturday would be my last outing on the ice, but I am thinking there is time for another trip or two - given the ice has yet to pop. Then again with the weight of the snow and slush, and forecasted incoming snow, maybe it won't 'pop' this year. Zackcorbin1401 542 Report post Posted April 11, 2022 1 hour ago, Snag??? said: The fish we kept were smaller ones, nice limit for the efforts. Early morning conditions even coming off lake the machine never broke 125 on temp gauge.. every walleye cleaned they were full of what would resemble guessing damselfly larva or similar. Interesting hatch going on . I was at a lake last weekend and every hole we drilled larvae were coming up the hole and fish were full of them aswell.
