It is almost that time of year!

when do y’all think ice will come around?

I am predicting I will be fishing on ice no later than the second weekend in November 12-14th…..the earliest I’ve been on ice was Oct 27 a few years ago

The earliest for me was Nov 4th on Whitefish lake. 4-5 inches of ice. Some finlander drove his car on the ice and I left after that.

Not that dumb anymore. I will wait some weeks for better ice conditions.

Small bays and creeks on Dinorwic Lake east of Dryden had ice on them on Wednesday.  I was fishing it a week before and the surface temp was 53F!

Lots of the small potholes between Upsula and Ignace were 50/50 ice to open water on Thursday morning.

A couple of nights that get down to -10C are gonna make things happen pretty quick.

Give us one more nice weekend before we need to start thinking about ice safety!

Water temps up in Graham last weekend were 44-46F. Going to see what it is this weekend towards Atikokan. I am guessing last week of November for walking ice.

It was not froze up last weekend. On nov 12 most of the lake was wide open. There was a small skim of ice that was coming out from shore

1.5 inches last weekend on small lakes around Lappe.  Hoping for thicker ice this weekend but these warm temps are reeking havoc with my ice fishing season.  +7 tomorrow.  Might have to check if the launch on Dog Lake is open and take the boat out of storage.

I am planning one last trip to Davis point this weekend.

prelate making all sorts of interesting booming and popping noises, kinda freaks a guy out

Sounds like ice fishing is a go out at Lac. "Ice conditions at Lac are getting better! On the weekend ice was measured from shore to  Derby site  between 6-9 in.  3 mornings -26C.  1 Shack out today to Birch Island. "

I would assume highway 811 would be plowed. But does anyone know if some of the side roads are plowed too? Like Almon, Kennah or Dog?

..any insight would be nice before heading that way.

thank you very much.

Sometimes yes sometimes no, after a fresh snow I’d wait a few days…most likely just the main road aswell , we have allways had to sled kennah.
