Guest bigcox Report post Posted November 4, 2008 can some one tell me how to properly tie a monofilament leader to fireline? Mine keeps snapping off. I use the classic fishermans knot to fishermans knot. Is there any other way? Thanks.
Guest TerryK Report post Posted November 5, 2008 I used to use a blood knot but I know there are some others out there.

Guest 4thgen Report post Posted November 5, 2008 I find that the braid will cut through the mono so I just use a small swivel (obviously this depends on the size of your leader).
Some Old Guy 968 Report post Posted November 5, 2008 I use a uni to uni as grumpy mentioned. 4thgen, The braid cuts your line because you didn't slide the mono towards the tag end after cinching up the braid. Cinch up the uni knot on the braid to the mono. Then slide the mono over and you'll notice a sharp kink in the mono. After you have the kink moved toward the tag end of the mono, tie your uni knot and it should hold pretty good. Roger Quote R.T.R. Respect the resource! Some Old Guy 968 Report post Posted November 5, 2008 Oh yeah, Could you pick a different handle? Roger Quote R.T.R. Respect the resource!
Bear 77 Report post Posted November 5, 2008 I use the swivel method, especially when tournament fishing, it is just so much easier if you have to replace the floro leader. Bear
NWO Fishing Bum 2 Report post Posted November 5, 2008 I'm with you Bear! Small swivel is the quickest way to go if efficiency and production are key. NWO Fishing Bum
Some Old Guy 968 Report post Posted November 6, 2008 I use pretty long leaders which don't allow me to use a swivel. On shorter leaders, yes I would go with a swivel. Roger Quote R.T.R. Respect the resource!
