Bear 77 Report post Posted December 11, 2008 High noon today, I finally saw a deer that would stand still long enough for me to get a shot off at it. Drove into a cut west of Kenora and two deer ran on the far side. I got out of the truck, loaded and lost sight. Out came a deer from behind the brush pile and started to trot. On of my custom calls and it stopped, I shot and down he went. Beleive it or not it was almost 300 yards away and he dropped instantly, right through the heart. All that long range shooting I did out in the mountains really paid off. Here is the twist. When I walked up he had one antler, which was missing, freshly broken off, and a nub on the other side. when he dropped he did a face plant and thats what maybe broke off the one antler. We searched around but could not find the antler, we had about a foot of snow in the past few days. Anyway he had buck plumbing so he got gutted and loaded up. End of a perfect day. Lots of sausage for the ice hut this winter. Bear
