Guest Kevin Green Report post Posted January 12, 2009 Does anybody know if Sunset Lake in Lismore township and Penicin Lake up the Magone Rd is open during the winter for specs? I heard rumours that they were but i wanna make sure first. Sunset Lake is open but I don't see Penican listed so I am not sure about that. Sunset is stocked and listed as open all year. The bait shops, D&R Sporting goods and probably Can Tire would have the Ontario Fishing Regulations. I would definately pick a book up if you are trying new lakes as even though their stocked some are closed for the Summer and some are closed for the winter. The Penasen's were, or still are a fish sanctuary, but I cannot confirm that right now. I see you posted in the Ask the MNR section also. Wait for their response or call them. Couple of links to the regulations, species, open seasons, and exceptions. http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/en/Business/LetsF...L02_163615.html http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/239044.pdf http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/198219.pdf http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/MNR_E001326.pdf Go to the MNR on James St. to get the latest stocking list, the one below does not include 2008. http://www.thunderbayfishing.com/thunderbaystocklist.htm Quote Prior Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance

eyelander 164 Report post Posted January 12, 2009 I think the Penasson Lakes are open during regular brook trout season. That lingering question has been answered in the "Ask the MNR" section. There is an open season, with limitations. Quote Prior Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance

Buck 120 32 Report post Posted January 13, 2009 This is why: THUNDER BAY - A Thunder Bay licence issuer has been fined $1,000 for licence sale violations. Robert Nearing, 53, licensed by the Ministry of Natural Resources to sell hunting and fishing licences at the Canadian Tire Store, in the Intercity Shopping area in Thunder Bay, failed to ensure staff followed ministry procedures for selling licences. Court was told that on October 2, 2006, a store employee issued a small game licence to a person with the fishing version of the Ontario Outdoors Card rather than the hunting version of the card. The hunting version of the Outdoors Card shows that a person is an accredited hunter in Ontario and is authorized to buy a hunting licence. Justice of the Peace Marcel Donio heard the case in the Ontario Court of Justice, Thunder Bay, on April 19, 2007. Licence issuers must ensure that all staff know how to use the licence issuing manual and follow its procedures. To report a natural resource violation, call 1-877-TIPS-MNR (847-7667) toll-free any time or contact your local ministry office during regular business hours. You can also call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Quote Not just a 3 month season but a 12 month obsession!!!
