All terrain and or Mud tires

Recommended Posts

Buck 120

I am looking at purchasing new All Terrain and or Mud terrain tires for my 2007 Ford F-150 Super crew. Can you guys give me some feedback/guidance regarding which tires work best for you for fishing/hunting/off road.

I have been looking at the BF Goodrich AT KO, Firestone Destination AT, General Grabber AT, Yokohama Geolandar AT and the Dick Cepek Crusher

What tires do you swear by and what tires do you swear at?

Not just a 3 month season but a 12 month obsession!!!

Goodrich, 285 series for your truck, you would need a small lift kit to put on 305's., stay away from the mud terrain, not all that great in the winter, go with the BFG's all terrain. My two cents, put them on my new truck and have no complaints.

I agree the All-Terrain are better. I have them on my truck and when hunting my friends trucks are spinning in mud and mine has no trouble at all... Even in snow they are fairly decent, only place they struggle a bit is on the ice. Also they do have a pretty good hum on the higway but less so than the muds...

ive got the dick cepek fun country II in 285 and no complaints......little more aggressive than the bfg all terrain but still arent like riding on skates like the mud tires. Ive got about 50 000 kms on mine and still lots of tread left.

I have been running Toyo Open Country tires since 1990, recommended to me by the old Spicer Tire store on south May St. Told Phil what I was going to do with it, and he did not hesitate to say this was the tire for my purpose over BFG and whatever else was out there on the market.. For a brief stint I tried the BFG all terrains in between tire changes as they were cheaper at the time, but they didn't last for more than 4 years for me, worn right down. The ruck is a 1990 GMC Sierra, has seen a lot of gravel roads. Not much of a mud tire, but I try to avoid mud and clay.

I looked around alot before buying my 10 ply tires for my diesel, checked numerous sites and BFG TKO's were up there, i also talked to several people who had them, nothing but good things to say so i bought them, best tires i ever owned period.
