Guest MNR Report post Posted September 13, 2010 Egg development for most spring and early-summer spawners such as walleye and smallmouth bass begins in late summer to early fall, so observing developing eggs in females at this time of year is normal. Egg production in fish is a lengthy process which requires considerable energy from the fish.
