Guest hardcorefishn Report post Posted November 15, 2010 Is it true that you cannot legally hunt wild game when you have not consummed all of the wild game that is in your freezer from the previous year? This doesn't sound right to me, but someone mentioned this last weekend.
Guest MNR Report post Posted November 15, 2010 Where species of wild game have daily bag and possession limits, you cannot have more game in your freezer than what is allowed. For example, you are allowed to take 5 grouse per day with a small game licence and you can have a total of 15 grouse (ruffed and spruce combined) in your possession. You could not go out and hunt for more grouse if you had kept your limit from the previous year. Migratory birds would also fall into this scenario. Game species that require a game seal (moose, deer and bear) don’t fall into this and you could have meat in your freezer from one year and go out hunting the next. You are not allowed to let game meat spoil. Allowing meat to get “freezer burn” is considered wastage.
