scandiman 114 Report post Posted July 11, 2017 Hey all, ran into a CO on the weekend and asked about Forbes lake (near sturge) and he informed me that there are natural brookies in it. did a little digging and found a nipigon area stocking list that listed Forbes as being stocked in 2002 (possibly before that yr also) so I talked to the CO and he mentioned that despite being stocked previously, it's listed a as a natural brook trout lake because the stocked fish naturalized in the lake. Just an interesting bit of info for anyone that fishes the lake.
eyelander 164 Report post Posted July 11, 2017 This has happened on at least one other lake I know of, didn't know about Forbes as I rarely fish out that way. One lake I went to that was stocked had the stocked fish start to spawn in it, so the MNRF stopped stocking it.
