AB 98 Report post Posted May 30, 2020 Its the 30th of May and water on the big lake has started to warm up. Watched a Bob Izumi episode where he was pulling tail dancers off planner boards in Lake Ontario and catching Chinooks.....his electronics showed a surface temp of 44F. Anyone started the chase for salmon up here om the north shore yet? I imagine everyone would love to get out and feel that first salmon of the yeat on the end of their line! Good Luck evwryone and let us know how you are doing! AB

pastor norm 125 Report post Posted May 30, 2020 will be out soon, for sure. My usual launch at Silver Islet is being renovated, however. Hope that is done soon. Will launch at Portage Bay .

bladedragger 4 Report post Posted June 24, 2020 Anyone getting into them? Been out a few times and still only lakers.
AB 98 Report post Posted June 24, 2020 There are a few really nice fish coming out of Black Bay for the last two weeks. And by nice we are talking about salmon up to 15lbs! But they are being really smart or goofy. There isn't really a pattern to look for or replicate. Seems if you find the fish, you are going to find a bunch and they are going to be aggressive. Keep washing those lures! AB
pastor norm 125 Report post Posted June 25, 2020 was out today with my cousin and trolled between Silver Islet to Cranberry. nothing at Silver Islet. A couple of small salmon (3 lbs or so) further north. Lost a nice one, but I can't confirm the species because I never saw it. It fought like a salmon. Spoons between 20 and 40 ft Also a couple of nice lakers which were released. It was a beautiful day but what happened to the north westerly winds? It blew in fro the south all day
johnr 47 Report post Posted June 26, 2020 Those north westerly winds were at Posh ! Gotta love Lake Superior
pastor norm 125 Report post Posted June 29, 2020 Had a better day Sunday. A limit of salmon but the boat launch at Portage was overflowing. The fish were eating baby perch and I had better luck with the smaller spoons in green and glow. They were in 40 to 70 feet of water

Barrski 23 Report post Posted July 1, 2020 Heading out to black Bay, Friday and Saturday, last time I was out only one salmon abut kept busy on Lake Trout, that was 3 weeks ago
pastor norm 125 Report post Posted July 1, 2020 welp.... four hours of nothing around Silver Harbour and Caribou. It looked like a perfect day and then the wind died and the lake got flat and hot. I don't know about you, but I like a pickerel chop even for salmon during the middle of the day. I think they stay real deep in the clear water and wait for evening. There were others out there too. And the Silver Harbour launch was packed with Canada Day gatherings. I noticed a number of boats went all the way to the Sibley pennisula north east shore and they were trolling or partying, can't tell. I have never salmon fished that shore on account of it easy to get stirred up by northwesterlies. Yes?
Kaptain Kirk 34 Report post Posted July 1, 2020 I too Was out there today. , we only caught lakers like crazy, no silver backs, and i like you like a little chop, when the water went flat today so did the Bites,

fishman1 164 Report post Posted July 1, 2020 I'm at Mckenzie, it's been dead there for several years, used to be great. very very few salmon now, I don't even put the boat in the water anymore, I trailer to black bay. so if you didn't catch that way, don't feel bad, join the club.
